Big Bulls & Birthdays- Photo Challenge Days 2-4

Day 2

We had a big weekend at the Siriani’s.  My grandfather turned 80 years old and we headed out of town to be a part of it.  On the way I came across these amazing looking bulls.  I have never seen such a hairy cow in my life.  We stopped for a while to photograph them.  I have to admit that I was a little scared because there was nothing but a tiny wire between me and those HUGE horns!  He looked very menacing but it was all show, he was more interested in chewing up the hay then me and my camera. Is it just me or does the tag on his ear read, “NICE”? For Day 3 Would it be Spring without some yellow chicks?

Good Gifts- Photo challenge Day #1 {Siriani Photography}

Photography is about real life.  It is more than just putting together a great back drop, some cool props and a pretty outfit.  My favorite photographs, the kind that hang in my home, move me.  They say something about the people in them.  There is no “cheese”.  For the next week or so, I am going to challenge myself to find and record those spontaneous moments and share them with you.  This is real life, this is what makes the day to day, the day to day.  I am excited to push the boundaries and explore something new and exciting. This will also be a way to tell you more about me.  God, Family and Country are the top of my list and I hope that you will see some of that in my photography.   Let’s start today.  Today’s inspiration was good gifts. It is amazing that new life can spring from something dead, which is exactly the process that takes place when you plant a seed.   James 1:17 says that “Every good and perfect gift comes from above”.  Spring is a reminder of God’s gift of life.

What’s New?

I am big on “value”.  I love thrift stores, hand made stuff, and a deal.  So, when it comes to my own business I want to make sure my clients get the best value! Most professional photographers move away from allowing clients to print their own images.  The reason is not just financial.  The ability to control the quality of the output is very important.  When you print and show off your family portraits, you are showing off my work.  It difficult to balance artistic integrity and a provide you with flexibility and a terrific value. I give my clients the CD of images because what good is a family photo if you can’t share it? I want you to be able to give Grandma, Aunt Gerta, Best Friend Lisa, and everyone else a copy of your family portrait.  There are some great one hour processing centers in the area. However, sometimes you get Joe- employee who has no training and doesn’t really care about the way your portraits turn out.  So, what does a girl do? I am thrilled, excited, overjoyed, enthusiastic to be able to offer you BOTH a great value, fabulous prints, AND AND AND some new exciting products. Don’t worry, you will still be able to print images on your own.  What’s new, is the ability to order high quality professional prints in a variety of specialty products like press books and albums with customized covers, mini accordion brag books, cards, announcements, framed prints, gallery wraps, and other products that you can’t get any where else.  Transform your portrait into a work of art and add some personalization to that huge empty wall in your favorite room.

Here Comes The Sun (Beatles)

Here comes the sun, here comes the sun,
And I say it’s all right

Little darling, it’s been a long cold lonely winter
Little darling, it feels like years since it’s been here
Here comes the sun, here comes the sun
And I say it’s all right

Fitting song isn’t it?  It has been a long cold winter.  I am ready for some sunshine. Well, I finally got to shoot outdoors yesterday.  It was really cold but at least the sun was shining.  I took Mrs. R outside for a not-so-traditional,  hot modern mama,  maternity shoot.  I just wanted to do something different.  Photographers try to steer away from shooting the 8th month of pregnancy because mom’s are usually big and uncomfortable.  In this case, big was too beautiful to pass up!

What can I say?  Thank you again for your participation in the contest this year. This little angel should look familiar!  We got together last Saturday for the shoot and although it was nasty outside, inside it was nothing but pure sunshine! A rousing round of  “Ten little monkeys” produced big smiles and a little wrinkled nose.  I even got a little kiss from her on the way out the door! Here are a few of my favorites from our session.
